Day 2

We are so tired! This morning we got up for devotions at 7:00 a.m. (and yes, everyone was on time). After breakfast, we headed to our worksite with "Beacon of Hope" (lakewoodbeacon.org). You can be SO proud of your kids. They worked incredibly hard clearing brush from abandoned homesites. They would stop for an occasional water break and would head right back out (without even being told!). They almost cleared the entire site in just one morning. We finished our morning with a well-deserved lunch break.

Following that, we used baby wipes to clean up because we headed straight to our first concert from the work site. It was amazing! The cool bus, cleansed skin, and a fresh set of clothes did the trick! We sang for the senior adults at Day Haven Assisted Living in Gretna Parrish. The kids sang well and the seniors seemed to enjoy it. Our second concert was at Hope Haven for youth 6-12 grades in Marrero Parrish. The kids there come from troubled and abusive backgrounds. The church was beautiful and the acoustics were fantastic. We sounded even better and the audience was very engaged in what we were doing.
Afterward, it was off to dinner! By this time, we were pretty hungry! With full bellies, we had our devotion led by Tyler and the rest of the night is being devoted to free time. As I write this, some of us are already sleeping, some of us are playing basketball, some of us are swimming, some of us are running and some of us are checking up on me (thanks Tyler and Nathan!). I thought I'd blog early tonight and get some rest. If I get some more great pictures this evening, I'll add them to this blog tomorrow night. Check the post dates for each day, as I may have remembered something wonderful, or special or just plain hilarious about the day and went back to add it.
